Students will explore the fiber arts of weaving and felting. They will practice the basic weaving pattern with paper weaving, before moving on to tapestry weaving on a cardboard loom. Students will learn about the tradition of wet felting and the science behind the process. They will then create their own felt flower out of wool!
Meet the Instructor: Carrie Jensen
Carrie Jensen has a master’s degree in art education and is an art teacher in western North Carolina, having taught students between 5th and 12th grade. Outside of teaching, Carrie specializes in acrylic landscape paintings and displays and sells her work locally. She also enjoys exploring fiber arts and has taken up coiled basketry in recent years. When not involved in artmaking, Carrie can be found running, gardening, or hanging out with her cat, Charlie.

Join us at the Museum for Summer Art Camp! Offered to rising K–12th grade students. All classes are age appropriate. Enrollment is limited, and registration is required. Registration includes Museum admission for Campers and all materials necessary for each class. Classes are offered weekly June 16–August 11, 2025. Morning (9am–noon) and Afternoon (1–4pm) sessions are offered each week of camp. Students may sign up for both Morning and Afternoon and stay for both sessions as an All Day Camper. Campers who stay All Day will break for a supervised lunch from noon-1pm.Financial Aid applications for Summer Art Camp 2025 scholarships are closed.
The Museum is committed to making our programs accessible to everyone, regardless of economic means. With support from the Walnut Cove Members Association, we are able to provide a limited amount of financial aid to help students who could not otherwise afford to enroll in our programs.
